One Door Shut, Another Opens

Well, here goes.....

Almost 3 months ago Steve applied for a position with Park County, Colorado. My home state. We have been waiting on pins & needles! We've searched for churches, homeschool groups, dance lessons, tae kwon do lessons, library locations, etc. We've scoured every possible real estate option and had narrowed it down to the land I highlighted in this post. We referred to it as "ours". I have pictures of it hanging on the fridge for crying out loud!

I'm going to miss it....

Steve did not get the job in Park County. Period. I'm a little angry, I have to admit. I know his qualifications. I know what he knows, and how talented an equipment mechanic he is! He never even got a phone call! The human resource staff has repeatedly apologized that the department heads hiring for that job never even contacted us. Something seems fishy about the whole thing. I wonder if someone's brother/son/cousin didn't just find themselves in a new job.....

Not long ago, Steve said to me, "I can't help but wonder if God doesn't have something else waiting for us."

Well, guess what. He may have just that!

Late last week I received an email from the National Park System. Yes. National. Park. System. It was sent to alert us to a job opening that Steve is qualified for, and by the end of the week, WILL be applying for.

Family and friends, this is just a small glimpse as to what could be Steve's work environment, should his application be accepted for Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic.

This is Blue Mesa Reservoir, Colorado's largest body of water. It's found in the Curecanti National Recreation area of Gunnison Colorado. Should Steve get the job, his shop would be right on the shores of this lake.

I have goose bumps just thinking about it!

3 DAY WALK

Well, in the midst of the chaos in our home these last few weeks (months) I finally sat down to throw together a post about the 3-Day Cancer Walk. I can't believe it's been over 2 months since that walk!

I chose not to take my digital camera with, as I was sure I'd lose it or drop it along the way. Instead I took one of those disposable, outdoor cameras. It did pretty well, but scanning in hard copies is time consuming!

So, without any further adieu, I give you a small sampling of what I experienced.

Flat On My Back

I found myself, standing almost paralyzed, in the chicken coop Wednesday afternoon. I've been a little sore near my tailbone for a week now (due to some Tae Kwon Do) but didn't think anything of it. Suddenly on Wednesday life came to a screeching halt!

Thank God for Steve! He put all his "stuff" on the back burner and tended to me & the kids. He served me dinner in bed & kept the kids occupied while I tried to lay quietly. I tried every combination of stacked pillows, laying on my side-stomach-back. Nothing would stop the pain! Now normally I can take just about any pain you can throw at me, but not this one. It was "make you stop mid-sentence, catch your breath, tears in your eyes pain.

Then I remembered the Tylenol-3 in the cupboard. Within an hour I was sleeping peacefully.

Turkey Day was spent laying in bed or sitting in the Lazy-Boy. I was bored out of my mind!

Again, thanks to Steve, the kids were fed & occupied throughout the day.

It's episodes of down-time like this that remind me to be thankful, from my very core, for all of the things God enables me to do physically, and to not let a day go by that I don't praise Him for my health!

I cannot WAIT to get outside and re-stack that trailer load of hay bales! I will be singing praises the whole time, believe-you-me! I will take that over a Lazy-Boy day anytime!

No News Is Good News

We called about hubby's application. They have it, but won't be reviewing any apps for 2 weeks. Apparently they've had 2 crucial administrative positions open up and they need to tend to those first.

So glad to hear they haven't filled the position yet! We're still in the running!
