A Tune Up

Normally I don't brag on software. I mean, there are so many kinds, and so many options, and so many tastes and levels of abilities, etc.

Today I read a quick little blurb about someone having trouble with their XP home machine running s-l-o-w! She described my machine to a "T". Well, I downloaded a trial version of TuneUp and ran through all of its wizards and recommendations, and by golly! My machine is zipping along now. So, for 30 days I get to try out this little hummer of a cleanup tool, and enjoy my new-found speed machine. If anyone's had experience with this app please let me know. Until then, I'll be contemplating whether to purchase this software or not.

TEETH!

While I don't generally get hung up on when each of our kids did this, or that, during those baby years, I have been kind of concerned about Mudge's lack of teeth. Our older two had lots of chompers by now, and Mudge has none.

Now I know that some babies don't get them 'til much later. I've also heard that the later they get teeth, the healthier those teeth will be, yada-yada-yada. But, imagine my excitement/horror when I prodded around in Mudge's mouth last night and found 6!!!!!!!!!!!!!! teeth ready to pop through. 2 bottom, 4 top.

Yikes! No wonder she earned the nickname (she has many) Grump-a-lump-a-gus.

Break out the Orajel!

RECIPE OF THE MONTH!

In an effort to post more, I've decided to share a favorite recipe of ours on a monthly basis. I hope that this will also help me sort through the bazillion cookbooks/magazines that I have. If anyone is interested in back issues of Taste of Home's Quick Cooking, speak up now. I'll be hauling them to the laundromat {where I dispose of all magazines (can you just picture the Amish mom flipping through Canoe & Kayak while she's waiting for her sheets to dry? haha : ) }

So here goes:

Oatmeal Spice Mix
this will make a bulk dry mix to add to your quick oats. makes a yummy breakfast, and costs tons less than the little packets! my kids love it!!

1/2 C. powdered sugar
1/2 C. powdered nondairy creamer
1/3 C. packed brown sugar
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp. pumpkin pie spice
1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg

Additional Ingredients (for each serving):
2/3 C. quick oats
2/3 C. boiling water

In a bowl, combine the 1st 7 ingredients; mix well; transfer to an airtight container; store in a cool, dry place for up to 6 months.

To prepare oatmeal:
In a bowl, combine oats & 2 Tbsp. of spice mix. Add 2/3 C. boiling water, stir. Enjoy!

Very quick, economical, and oh, so yummy!
